The hotel Mar y Sol in Los Cristianos is one of the most famous
wheelchair accessible hotels in Europe.
It has been founded by Mr. Hans-Joachim Fischer, who is still co-owner
and general manager.
The idea was born in 1975 when Mr. Fischer vacationed in Tenerife with
his wife who suffered from Multiple Sclerosis.
During their stay on Tenerife they found out that the climate had a very
positive effect on Mrs. Fischer‘s health and even slowed down the progress of her disease.
In recent days the hotel has greatly expanded and there are additional therapeutic
departments such as Teralava Medical Spa and the LeRo centre for medical
equipment rental, nursering care and accessible excursions. Additionally you
have access to a gym to exercise.
The accommodations come in different sizes and price categories and are laid
out for the various special needs of the hotel’s guests.
The main house has been built in an atrium style with several other
buildings spread on the hills, about 300m away from the 8 km long
beach promenade. There you can find a stunning accessible beach.
All pools are equipped with a hoist for an easy transfer into the water.
